ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Verlinda J. Allen (a.k.a. A. J. Heart) 

Started her love for writing in the early 90’s through a Children’s Lit. Class, while pursuing her BA in Special Education.  She was taught to study poetry, to create poems and to finally create a children’s book (which is being modified to publish as a future book).

Ms. Allen continued writing because she found a niche and a love for it…taking a writing course through Long Ridge Writer’s Group; meeting Kaa Byington (who is now deceased) who was also a romance novelist.  Ms. Allen shared her first drafts with Ms. Byington on a long time romance project…which will be her 3rd writing project and first book under A. J. Heart.

Presently, Ms. Allen has 2 completed poetry books that are with Trafford Publishing (Special Childhood Treasures) and BookBaby (The Highs and Lows of Love; 2nd edition).

Ms. Allen’s writings also consists of poetry published in The National Library of Poetry; where several poems received Editor’s Choice. Ms. Allen enjoys singing, dancing, writing, sewing and designing.  She lives with her family, 5 cats: Zohran, Jinxxs, Sheba and
4 kittens: Mittens, Mocha, Mikasa and Misty (the newest members), as well as a catch and a release cat, named Mia, and 2 bunnies: Cinnamon and Diamond. She has 4 businesses; all home-based for the moment, in custom-made clothing (Anaya Heart Infinity), event planning (Phoenix Event Planning) and catering & delivery (Zacharrias’s American Caribbean-Cuisine and Books Published (the newest business venture).
